Crested Geckos

Correlophus ciliatusCare Sheet

Crested Geckos are extremely common in the reptile hobby – and have begun exhibiting a wide range of color and pattern morphs/phenotypes.

Crested geckos originally inhabited New Caledonia, however have largely been wiped out with the exception of a small population on the Isle of Pines. Prior to their re-discovery in the 1990s, they were thought to be extinct in the wild.

Almost all crested geckos in captivity today are descendants of the original ~100 animals brought into captivity in the late 1990s.

Most visual traits observed in captive crested geckos are non-mendelian, polygenic traits, with only a few established mendelian “morphs” (Lily White, Cappuccino, Axanthic, etc.). Our group is working with what we believe is a unique co-dominant/dominant Cappuccino-like melanistic morph of crested gecko that we are calling “Velvet”.

Animals are available from most of the adults listed below!
